Choosing a glass or ceramic grinding fluid is really a process decision, not a product one. Three questions settle it: what you are machining (glass or a technical ceramic), which operation you run (edge grinding, precision surface grinding, or cutting), and how clean and stable the coolant has to stay through a shift. Once those are clear, the grade almost picks itself. Start with the process, not the product
The right grade follows from what you are actually doing on the machine.

The criteria that actually matter
When you compare any glass or ceramic grinding fluid, these are the things worth checking, whatever the brand:
🔸 Settling speed: fine abrasive needs to flocculate and drop quickly, or it recirculates and scratches the work.
🔸 Clarity: a clear tank lets operators see the part and the wheel.
🔸 Foam control at wheel speed: high rpm aerates fluid, and a fluid that foams overflows and cools poorly.
🔸 Concentration and pH control: check with a refractometer and keep pH in range so the fluid stays stable and low-odor.
🔸 Water compatibility: hard or soft water changes foam and emulsion behavior, so confirm your water before mixing.
🔸 Diamond wheel compatibility: the fluid should suit diamond wheels and support longer dressing intervals.
🔸 Sludge handling: sludge that settles soft is far easier to remove than sludge that cakes hard.

Picking on price or habit usually shows up as recirculated fines scratching finished surfaces and dropping yield, sludge caking that clogs pumps and filters and forces downtime, or a drifting pH that brings odor and corrosion.
