Water-soluble cutting fluids are metalworking concentrates that form an emulsion or solution when mixed with water, valued for high cooling performance and washability. They come in three types, from most oil to least.

Their high lubricity reduces friction and tool wear and improves surface finish across gear hobbing, broaching, turning, honing, tapping, and drilling.
Sulfur content is the key choice: non-sulfurized HLJH NN series oils contain inactive sulfur for non-ferrous metals (aluminum, brass, copper) and prevent staining, while sulfurized HLJH NA series oils
